CAPTAIN HOOK’S TREASURE
George Manadis
On
a hot day in August, while my friends and I were diving underwater with an
aqualung, we saw a bottle with a message in it. I took the bottle and quickly
opened it, and took the message which said "Help ! You will find me on the
island of AFRAID. My friends and I decided to carry on diving and go for help
the next day.
When we returned back to our tent we
saw it was in a terrible mess, however none of our luggage was missing. The
only thing that was missing was the message and the bottle. Why had the man or
woman who had done this wanted the message so badly? That was a difficult
question, and we left the answer until the next day.
The following day we got up quickly
and went to the library. When we got inside we asked the receptionist where we
could find information about the island of AFRAID. he showed us a small book
and lots of old newspapers. On the first page of a newspaper there was, in big
letters, "Captain Hook and his lost treasure." Now we realised why somebody
wanted the message.
We hired a boat and went quickly to
the island. Nobody was on the island, so we started looking for the treasure,
but we couldn’t find it. After an hour we all went back to our boat, but one of
my friends didn’t appear, so we started calling him. A minute later we saw him
running towards us. He was coming to the boat. While he was running he slipped
on a piece of wood. But it wasn’t a piece of wood. It was lever. I pushed it
and we found a box full of jewels. The next day all the newspapers had our
photos and our names. We were very happy.
